''Designs on Jerry'' is the 93rd one reel animated ''Tom and Jerry'' short, released in 1955, directed by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera and produced by Fred Quimby with music by Scott Bradley. The cartoon was animated by Irven Spence, Kenneth Muse and Ed Barge with backgrounds by John Didrik Johnsen. It was released on September 2, 1955 by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer.
==Plot==

In the attic of a large house, Tom is busy designing the "perfect" mousetrap designed to catch Jerry. In addition to the elaborate contraption, the blueprint depicts stick figures of a mouse and a cat. After finishing his blueprint, Tom goes to bed.
While Tom sleeps, the stick figure mouse suddenly comes to life and enters Jerry's mousehole to warn him about Tom's plan. Jerry, stunned, refuses to follow it, but the stick mouse promptly drags Jerry to the plan. Just then, the stick figure cat also comes to life; promptly, Jerry hands stick-mouse an eraser, and they erase the cat's teeth, but it re-draws a bigger set of teeth before chasing them.
The stick-mouse draws a mousehole on the blueprint to help Jerry escape, but is then caught by the stick-cat. Jerry draws shorter hind legs on it from behind and erases its bigger legs, causing the stick-cat to fall down. The stick-cat then uses its tail as a lasso to catch Jerry, but the stick-mouse fires a bow and arrow at the cat to save Jerry, deflating the cat's torso, before camouflaging itself as a flower in a flowerpot and ladling the cat with a fork.
Both mice then jump off the drawing board, with the stick-mouse acting as a parachute, while the stick-cat jumps down and bounces akin to a pogo stick. The stick-mouse fires water at the stick-cat and Jerry sucks it into an ink pen before they empty it into Tom's jar of white ink. The two mice shake hands, but hear Tom waking up. They quickly alter a key measurement on the blueprint and return to their original positions before Tom returns to building his mousetrap.
After completing his trap, Tom hides as Jerry emerges and grabs a piece of cheese which Tom tied to his creation. A complicated chain of events are then set off which eventually lead the release of a safe. Tom emerges in anticipation, but due to the altered measurement, the safe falls onto Tom instead of Jerry, shaping Tom into a cube, much to his annoyance.
